The resort is actually located on an island just off the coast of Hilton Head, SC. You take a 30 minute boat ride from Hilton Head to Daufuskie. There currently is not a bridge for driving to the island , so there are very few cars on the island .

I was still determined to not have our vacation spoiled, so I suggested to my friends that we all walk down the street (in the miserable heat) to the hotel restaurant to grab a bite to eat while we waited for our rooms. When we got to the restaurant, there were very few customers inside. We waited for at least ten minutes before an employee finally stopped talking bazaar magazine to one of their buddies long enough to seat us. It took even longer before someone came to take our drink orders. I’m a patient person, but I was on the edge of becoming nasty.
